Zero XE and XB (2026) recall: unintended acceleration with cruise control
On October 12, 2026, Transport Canada published a recall notice for the following motorcycles. If you own one of these models, here is what you need to know.
Affected models
- Zero XE: 2026
- Zero XB: 2026
The issue
Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause a sudden, unintended increase in engine power and vehicle speed while cruise control is engaged. This could result in a loss of stability and/or loss of control.
Safety risk
A loss of stability or control could increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
To reduce the safety risk, Zero Motorcycles advises not to use the cruise control until the recall repairs are completed and to always keep your fingers covering the brake levers while riding. Zero Motorcycles will notify owners by email and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to update the cruise control software.
To find out whether your motorcycle is affected, contact a Zero dealer with your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy.
