Benelli TRK 602 X: the TRK 502’s successor is ready for the road

The TRK 502 is Benelli’s best-selling motorcycle — and the bike that put plenty of travellers on the road without emptying their wallets. At EICMA in Milan, on November 3, 2026, the Italian brand unveiled the final production version of its replacement: the TRK 602 X. After a preview at the previous show, this is now the real thing, with dealership arrival announced for spring 2027.

The biggest change hides under the bodywork. The old engine makes way for a 554 cc parallel twin with a 270-degree crankshaft, borrowed from the Tornado 550. For the TRK, Benelli fitted it with a new airbox and a revised exhaust. The result: 35 kW (48 hp) at 6,500 rpm and 53 Nm at 5,500 rpm in A2 trim, and 41.2 kW (56 hp) at 8,250 rpm unrestricted. The manufacturer promises more torque across the entire curve, and that is exactly what you want from a loaded touring bike: pull down low, not just numbers at the top of the rev counter.

The steel trellis frame is carried over, but Benelli added a new aluminium front structure for the instrument support and a lighter subframe. Seat height is 825 mm — lower than before, which opens the bike to more riders, an important point when touring two-up or manoeuvring a loaded bike at a standstill. The 43 mm upside-down fork offers 140 mm of travel, while the rear shock, mounted on an aluminium swingarm, offers 173 mm and adjusts for preload, compression and rebound. Braking is handled by two 320 mm discs with radial four-piston calipers up front and a 260 mm disc at the rear, with ABS. The aluminium alloy spoked wheels — 19 inches front, 17 rear — wear 110/80 and 150/70 tyres, a classic format for an adventure bike that has to handle tarmac as well as gravel roads.

On equipment, the 602 X is no pretender. The 5-inch colour TFT display connects via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, with turn-by-turn and map navigation. Two riding modes, Normal and Sport, plus traction control and ABS that can be switched off when the road turns rough. Standard equipment includes hand guards with integrated indicators, a USB socket, a centre stand, side crash bars and an aluminium bash plate. As options, Benelli offers aluminium side cases and a top case, plus a heated seat and heated grips with three intensity levels — enough to ride far, even when the temperature drops.

The styling evolves without denying the family: the lines borrow from the TRK 702 and 902, but with more flowing, less interrupted surfaces. The upper tank fairing merges into the beak and radiator shroud. Four colours will be offered in spring 2027: Heron White, Jungle Fog Green, Storm Grey and Dune Sea.

One question remains that matters to us: no price has been announced, and Benelli has confirmed nothing for Canada. The TRK 502 established itself as the affordable gateway to motorcycle travel; if the 602 X keeps that philosophy, it could well become the next budget touring bike to watch closely. We will follow its arrival at Canadian dealers.
