Yamaha Tracer 9 Y-AMT (2025-2026) recall: possible unintended gear changes
On September 28, 2026, Transport Canada published a recall notice for the following motorcycle. If you own this model, here is what you need to know.
Affected models
- Yamaha Tracer 9 Y-AMT: 2025, 2026
The issue
On certain motorcycles, the shift shaft stopper could break. As a result, the transmission may not be able to shift gears or may unintentionally change gears. This could cause a sudden loss of stability and/or loss of control. This could also cause the engine not to restart.
Safety risk
A loss of stability or control could increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
To reduce the safety risk, Yamaha advises not to ride your motorcycle until the recall repairs are completed. Yamaha will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to replace the shift shaft assembly.
To find out whether your motorcycle is affected, contact a Yamaha dealer with your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy.
