Honda CMX300 and CMX500 (2017-2026) recall: handlebar lock screw
On July 30, 2026, Transport Canada published a recall notice for the following motorcycles. If you own one of these models, here is what you need to know.
Affected models
- Honda CMX300: 2017–2024, 2026
- Honda CMX500: 2017–2023, 2025
The issue
On certain motorcycles, the handlebar lock screw may not have been installed properly. As a result, the screw could loosen and fall between the frame and the steering stem. If this happens, the screw could interfere with the steering and cause a loss of steering control. Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2026-114.
Safety risk
A loss of steering control could create the risk of a crash.
What to do
Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to replace the handlebar lock screw and apply a thread-locking compound.
To find out whether your motorcycle is affected, contact a Honda dealer with your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy.
